Nashville Antiques and Garden Show
As promised, here are a few snapshots of our finds from our recent trip to Nashville. It’s hard for me to believe that I was able to garner such self-control given how much I love this show. Back in the day, when I was furnishing both our Potomac and Easton homes, I bought truckloads of stuff, literally.
Don’t pack garden urns in your suitcase!
One year I didn’t feel like waiting on the shipper to make his way up the east coast so I drove a big U-Haul box truck filled with my loot by myself. (Not the most comfy twelve hour ride.) (BTW – you know those height clearance bars at the McDonalds drive through? Pay attention to those when feeding your Diet Coke habit. Ouch.) Fortunately, delivery of this year’s purchases was without incident with the minor exception of a TSA investigation at the airport. (I think that it was the heft and girth of the large marble garden urn in my suitcase that aroused their curiosity.)
The patina on this very old convex mirror is gorgeous – and perfect over a sideboard.
Beautiful water gilded accessories are a staple at the Nashville Art and Antiques Show. The photo just doesn’t do this wall bracket justice…the finish is incredible.
More fabulous water gilding. I am drawn to architectural artifacts as well as the mix of an old piece on a lucite base. This item, from Alcott Interiors (great booth!), also reminded me of The Winged Victory sculpture at The Louvre. One of my favorite pictures of my boys is in front of that statue – so I guess I have a soft spot for WV:)
The really cute photo covers up most of the statue – so I’m posting this one instead.
The suspicious garden marble urn. It’s harmless TSA people…move along.
I didn’t buy these lovely ladies – but I did snag some of their jewelry. The nice thing about this show for me is that I get to reconnect with vendors that I have known for years. But I also have a chance to meet amazing, young, and fresh designers like Brooke Worthington (on the left). She has a great eye…love the delicacy of the items that I bought
