Farm to Table Dinner Party
While spending our spring break in sunny southern California, I realized just how much I’ve missed dining al fresco over these last winter months. Fortunately, the days are starting to get warmer and longer here on the east coast, and I can’t wait to get back outside! Until then, let’s take a look at a few photos of a farm to table birthday party that we hosted for one of our best girlfriends.
Because the ladies only party was scheduled for mid-August, I was a little nervous about planning an outdoor dinner. Usually, DC heat and humidity in late summer will have everyone and everything wilting. But we ended up with one of those rare evenings of mild temperatures with cool breezes. And, no bugs!
I loved planning this party with good friends for so many reasons. One of those reasons – a really great theme! We enjoyed a fabulous dinner by Occasions Caterers, with a menu focused on farm fresh, seasonal foods. And, it was wonderfully prepared and presented – everyone loved it!
While Occasions was busy in the kitchen, I focused on the decor. Since our birthday girl has a great eye for color, I wanted to choose a color palette that represented her amazing style. As luck would have it, I found a gorgeous David Austin rose in a coral color (one of her favorites) and it provided the perfect starting point for our tablescape. From there, the rest of our tabletop decor fell into place easily. Fresh flowers and candles filled mason jars and stenciled crates held fresh fruit and vegetables. The table runner was a garland of greens and spanned the length of our three rustic farm tables. And our place cards were personalized garden stakes in potted herbs with placemats made from burlap runners.
As always, thanks for joining me today!
