Student of the Year Campaign
When a dear friend asked us to be the floral designer for the Grand Finale Gala of the 2016 Student of the Year Campaign event in February, we couldn’t say “yes” fast enough. The Student of the Year Campaign is a six-week initiative in which nominated high school students in teams of 2 or 3 are invited to participate in a fundraising competition to benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation (LLS) National Capital Area Chapter. Candidates raise money in honor of a local teen patient hero who is currently battling a blood cancer. (Special shout-out to Kyle Fritschi – the 2016 Honored Hero!). At the end of six weeks, the candidate who raises the most money is named Student of the Year.
Congratulations to all 15 of the awe-inspiring participating teams – who raised a total $592,654.81 in just six weeks!!! We delivered 40 red and yellow floral centerpieces (LLS colors) and six bouquets to the J.W. Marriott on a beautiful late winter evening in Washington DC. Here are a few photos of these amazing students and a snapshot of our flower arrangements!
