Happy 4th of July, friends!
This summer seems to be flying by and I can’t believe that the 4th has come and gone already. We usually spend the holiday at Lombardy and this year was no exception. Since I love celebrating our nation’s Independence and Maryland’s eastern shore is so rich in American history, I never have any trouble finding a little patriotic inspiration.
Our home in Talbot County is in the beautiful town of Easton, Maryland. Easton has been named among the Top Ten Best Small Towns and Top 100 Small Arts Communities in America. Fun fact – Quakers established the Friends Meeting House in 1682, and now it’s one of the oldest churches in the country. Also, archeologists are exploring The Hill, one of the country’s first free African American settlements, where descendants still live. Easton, Oxford, and nearby St. Michaels are quintessential coastal towns that draw thousands of visitors over the summer months from nearby Washington, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Since historic Talbot County is known for its amazing seafood, (especially crabcakes), quaint shops and beautiful homes, it is an easy place for a gal like me to love.
